Is it worth it for my resort/hotel to market to Travel Agents?

I am helping a friend of mine brain storm he is the new marketing director for a resort company that owns about 30 resorts. He asked for my advice on marketing as its taking longer than thought to break into the internet market. So my idea was to market to Travel Agents. After doing some research it seems as if the Travel Agent market is declining due to an increase in internet sales. So would it be in the end better to do a marketing campaign directly to the consumer OR to focus on Travel Agents?
Thanks

lots of people use travel agents, so if you hook up with one they will give the clients your name. i think it would be a good move.

We have used expedia.com to book many of our trips with very good results. Try them. I have yet to hear any negative feedback about them.

Kind of a silly question. You can do both. Travel agents are a great source of referrals. They all have websites and internet advertising which will link your friends resorts to them.
