What is the best buggy/pushcair/travel system on the uk market at the moment?

We are looking to get some sort of buggy thing for our future child and wondered what the best travel thing on the market is. We’ve noticed the Bugaboo Cameleon as it stands out but is it any good? We are looking for one that is good for pushing around on walks (urban) and durable.

i have been a nanny for 18 years and im a mum of 2
i would never have considered anything other than a maclaren stroller i know professional nannies who have their own maclarens as they found some of the buggies they were working with so unwieldy and awkward. The families i worked for always bought maclarens ,sometimes at my request-you can fold them with one hand [really easy to get into even a small car's boot and fit your shopping in too-unless you have a van that won't happen with the bugaboo] and
baby in the other-important for getting in and out of small hallways or getting into car, dont worry about waking baby when moving them into a car seat-people often opt for a travel system so that they can attach carseat to pram-the problems inherrent are that
1:you have to remove baby’s layers from outside so that they don’t overheat anyway and risk waking them-dangerous and very real risk for wee ones to overheat
2:experts recommend that wee babies especially do not spend a great deal of time in car seats-they are designed to hold the body [even skull ]rigid in case of an accident-but as babies do most of their growing while they are asleep rigidity is not compatable with easy head growth,so i would be reluctant to use the car seat attached to the buggy as travel systems are designed to do
having said that if i were buying today,id also consider the quinny, folds small but has a very comfortable adjustable seat-a carry cot can be bought seperately too
check mothercare for prices and for their copycat versions of the groovy buggies for less money.
enjoy and beware dog poo!
can i also add that as a professionally trained nanny with qualifications as a montessori nursery teacher, teacher of children with special educational needs, specific learning difficulties, child developement, child psychology, and developmental movement for under-5s as well as being a full-time mother -that the buggy you choose for your child has less bearing on their language developement-quite a bandwagon at the moment-than individual attention ,chatting, singing, nursery rhymes and reading books has,and buggy covers are fabulous for keeping off a breeze.

Don’t buy a Bugaboo–you could spend $700 on something better than a stroller.

Graco is a great brand and Fisher Price makes a stroller that is similar to the Bugaboo but is much cheaper and better looking.

If you have the money, buy the Bugaboo. I bought mine used and it was hands-down the best baby-supply purchase I made. If you do a lot of walking, it’s the best all-weather, all-terrain, versatile buggy you could ask for. (And for that price, it damn well better be!)

If you go to mamas and papas store they got some great travel systems and prams etc my daughter has a pramette which is very good the baby can lie out flat to start with which is better than being crumped up in them car seats then you can turn it into different positions to suit the child also you can fold it up easily and it fits into the car boot which is only a small car. worth taking a look.good luck with your child.

Dont think BEST, think PRACTICAL . They are only in them 5 minutes, i got a really cheap, two in 1 from asda £115. She was in it for around a year, proberly less, then i bought a buggy for £30 from mothercare as they are easy to take on holiday. My friend bought a really expensive pushchair £400? and if the bus was full she would have to wait for the next one because in order to get it flat she had to take the wheels off!, and it was the same for putting it in the car! Think practical.

Try a Zooper, i’ve had 3 differant ones and they were all brilliant, durable, manouvarable handles, front or back facing and really easy to push, they were also rated BETTER than the bugaboo in an independant survey yet are a fraction of the price. The bugaboos are far to popular, i like having a pushchair which ever other person doesn’t have.

get a bugaboo, it is better you can see your child (unlike a mclaren) and bugaboo are better for your child’s language developement as it faces you as does the buggy part. All these "nannies" know little about education and just what suits them but the price of a bugaboo is the price off language which is a bargain. Also do you really want to push your child into the wind and not see if it chokes???
