Where can I buy gold ingots in the UK?

I am looking at buying a gold ingot, or maybe just a gold coin, but small amount of real gold, but so far my internet searches have lead me to either online sales, or I have to buy from another country altogether.

If it helps I don’t live too far from London, so I wouldn’t mind travelling to there.

Surely they must have coin shops in London. Go and inquire about krugerrands, maples or kangaroos. These are all examples of "bullion" coins. Bullion coins are not rare at all, they are valuable because of their gold or silver content.

Before you go on a buying trip, check the current spot price:

A shop that sells bullion coins should be willing to sell you them for a small percentage over the spot price.
